Track & Field is returning to Brisbane, hurrah! Taking place at Electric Playground and the Rev Alley (known to most as the renovated Church come nightclub come music venue on Warner St) the boutique music event harbors artists from all around the county. There's nowhere else you're going to want to be this Friday, so read below about the artists who will be appearing.
ALPINE
Headlining Track & Field
are the epic Alpine. Their newly released debut “A is for Alpine” has earned
the Melbourne band critical acclaim and an Aria nomination. Having formed in
2009, Alpine are yet to put out a track that doesn’t work. They’re about to be
touring for Groovin’ the Moo before jetting off to the United States. T&F
might be the last time to catch them in Brisbane for a while.
DUNE RATS
Dune Rats (Danny Beus and BC
Michaels) are the lovable stoners from Brisbane whose penchant for weed is
almost as famous as their music. They’ve finally released their long-awaited third
EP “Smile”, and Track & Field serves as the Brisbane leg of their “Smile
Tour”. It features the tune Red Light, Green Light that has become
famous (or infamous) for its clever take of DZ Deathray’s video clip for The Mess Up. Oh Dune Rats and their
antics…
JUNGLE GIANTS
Brisbane’s Jungle Giants are
one of the reasons our humble little city has been put on the Australian map as
a music hub. Their latest EP “She’s a Riot” features their unique indie pop
sound, but is marked by a new maturity. It features title track She’s a Riot, which cracked the number
83 spot on the Hottest 100. Jungle Giants’ following is growing by the day, so
make sure you catch them now before they’re launched to international stardom.
ASTA
Tasmanian youngster Asta is
a talented singer songwriter from Tasmania. She won the esteemed Triple J
Unearthed High 2012 prize and her brand of electro-pop has infiltrated iPods
all over Australia. My Heart is On Fire makes
us all wish we could be that young, talented and beautiful.
DJ SETS
Whilst I’ve never really
gotten the concept of bands doing DJ sets, at the same time I’m like who cares? Millions
and Cub Scouts are still on stage (even if their instruments are replaced with
decks). There will also be DJ sets from Treats DJs, Teen Girls and Pony Club.
