To support the disaster in the Philippines caused by Super Typhoon Haiyan, IZE will be selling cupcakes at the Rise Up fundraiser at the Eatons Hill Hotel on Sunday 24 November and donating all of the profits to help in the aid relief.
The world has watched in shock as the typhoon has wreaked havoc and destruction through the Philippines. Many people are unaware that the Philippines consists of over 7000 islands. Areas all over the country have been affected to varying degrees and the stories of devastation are innumerable. In one city alone, it is estimated that 10,000 people are dead. Worse still, the death toll continues to rise with starvation, infection and displacement causing more issues.
Horrific, devastating and catastrophic are a few of the words that have been used to try to explain the disaster in the Philippines. However, words that have also emerged are courage, strength, determination and bravery. Amidst what’s been happening, amazing acts of selflessness have occurred. It’s also amazing to see the how international communities come together to assist in another country’s time of need.
Rise Up for the Philippines is an event on Sunday 24 November 2013 from 11am to 4pm at the Eatons Hill Hotel. The concept of the event is based on the fact that whilst most of the major cities and towns are currently receiving aid from media exposure, many of the remote areas of the Philippines are currently not receiving assistance. The day will be raising funds, clothing & food to aid to those in need in the Philippines.
In support of this great event and to help provide aid to the Philippines, IZE will have a stall selling cupcakes. Some of you may remember the 200 Red Velvet cupcakes that we made for the IZE 1st birthday party. Always up for a challenge, we will be baking 1000 cupcakes (Red Velvet, Chocolate and Vanilla) for the Philippines. All of the funds that we raise on the day will be going straight to the Philippines.
Many thanks have to go to Basic Ingredients and Bakels for their cake mix and icing donations, and to the Baking Industry Association Queensland for lending us their industrial kitchen so that we can make bulk cupcakes.
Make sure you come down, buy a cupcake and have a chat with the IZE girls. There’s also a free concert on the day with local artists and performances from X Factor and Australia’s Got Talent finalists, a Scooter raffle, food stalls, rides and heaps more.

GET INVOLVED: This is a 100% Not-for-Profit organisaton. Come to the EH, support the local businesses selling food and wares and bring non-perishable food, clothes and other items that will be flown with the team to the Philippines.
